Level Safety Systems (HEGEUS)
With the HEGEUS system, it is aimed to prevent accidents occurring at level crossings. With the system to be installed, two smart cameras with video analysis capability are placed at the level crossings to see the entire level crossing, and projectors/projectors are placed to illuminate the level crossing in cases where the light is insufficient. Event detection and imaging cameras placed at the gate have the ability to transmit images over 3G to a remote point with internet connection. Intelligent cameras automatically generate an alarm if any object enters the level crossing that will affect the course of the train.
If a train approaches 1.5 km (or any other desired distance) to the level crossing via the display screen placed on the trains, the train Real-time image of the relevant level crossing and alarm information are transmitted on the screen. With the perception of the danger, the driver is aware of the dangers and can adjust the speed of the train with the "driver attention" warning. The software and hardware of the system being implemented as a prototype were developed by the ISSD team. For this reason, additional features can be added to the system and system parameters can be changed.

Java was preferred in terms of the platform independence of the software, web-based development was made and the most up-to-date J2EE technologies were used because it did not require extra configuration.
